Situated in the heart of Kota Kemuning, Dao Desserts has quickly garnered attention as a go-to dessert restaurant, specializing primarily in soy-based delicacies. The inviting atmosphere, marked by charming decor featuring a bicycle, enhances the casual dining experience. Customers often praise the taufufah, a silky soft tofu pudding that pairs beautifully with red bean and cincau, striking the perfect balance of sweetness without overwhelming the palate.
However, while the food receives positive acclaim, service consistency appears to be an area for improvement. Several reviews highlight challenges with staff attentiveness, which can detract from the otherwise delightful experience. Diners like Prem Kumar and Joanne Ng suggest that while the desserts might appeal to health-conscious individuals, they may miss the mark for younger customers seeking sweeter treats.
Despite the hiccups, many, like Giselle Lim, acknowledge Dao's exceptional soy desserts. The unique offerings, such as the Camu Tempeh Crunch and Puddao Silky Soy Pudding, showcase the restaurant's creative approach. With the potential for second visits, guests seem inclined to return, not just for the food, but for the soothing atmosphere that encourages lingering conversation among friends and family.

Reviews for Dao desserts Kota Kemuning
Review highlights
Based on 741 reviewsDao desserts Kota Kemuning is generally praised for its smooth and flavorful soy-based desserts, particularly the tofufah and soft serve, which strike a good balance of sweetness and texture. The shop’s interior is commonly noted as cozy and well-decorated, offering a comfortable environment for casual gatherings. However, customers have highlighted limitations such as a small seating area, a limited menu focused mainly on cold soy desserts, and an ordering system that requires pre-payment before entry. Service quality appears inconsistent, with reports of understaffing leading to delays in order taking, unclean tables, and occasional poor customer interaction. Despite these challenges, the quality of the desserts remains a key strength for the brand.
Was around the area and found out they had nice review.. So went there with my kids. Ordered dai with ginger and soft serve for my two kids one in cone and another in cup. Gotta order before u enter, found that a bit persuasive but given the small space inside with limited seats, it made sense. The interior design was nice. There was a bicycle at the end of the shop for deco. Only one toilet functioning. Might want to look into fixing that cos in the cold climate inside added with cold desserts, people would naturally be inclined to frequent the loo. And it would be troublesome to have to wait when one is occupied. Now to the food. My ginger dao was nice. But the tan yuan was plain. Would be nicer if it is filled with some kinda paste. The taufufa was super soft and silky. And the shaved ice together witj the ginger syrup was refreshing.. You get a crunchy silky feeling at the same time. I enjoyed it. My kids however were not a fan of the soft serve. They were expecting a sweet treat but it turns out the soft serve was nithing like mcD icecream they imagined. It was more like taufufa on a cone with the slightest taste of sugar. They were dissapointed and passed it to me halfway. But as an adult it was accepted well by my palate as well as my health conscious mind. Would i return again? Probably yes. But defintely alone or with my friends cos these desserts are not kid pleaser.
standard Dao francaise v delicious soy bean dessert. taufufah is smooth, paired v red bean n cincau tastes perfect, not too sweet. soft serve also nice. their shop interior design is great, feel comfy n relax, can enjoy dessert and chatting v friend or family inside the shop.
i agree with the previous review. i’ve always loved dao’s daufufah but the staff at the counter (girl taking order, short hair) has a horrible attitude. i had to repeat my order three times for her to STILL get it wrong. and when i confronted her for the mistake she did, she did not look sorry at all and she looked super ‘behsong’. if you can’t fix her attitude then give her work that doesn’t involve any engagement with customers. really horrible service. i didn’t come here to eat and get this attitude in return.
Came after dinner somewhere nearby. menu was obviously limited to soy juice type of dessert, more iced than hot offers. Serving was fast, needed to self collect from counter and return to counter after finish. The soy juice and tofufa met the expectation, the ginger syrup just nice, for some may prefer stronger. The shaved ice was ok, I prefer black ball ones. the red beans could be better if it was cooked slightly longer and it would taste better if the ice was made from soy juice, and could give a free ginger syrup with it.
They probably need to hire more staff here. Firstly, I was standing at the takeaway counter and nobody bothered to take my orders. 1 of the male staff was just standing around despite seeing me. The other female staff was busy making customer's orders. Secondly, many uncleaned tables. They probably don't have enough hands to clear tables. But 4-stars thanks to the very nice soy soft serve. Dao still has the best soy desserts in town.
